Pinch Me
Judy Horn was having breakfast beside her pool and cascading waterfall. She glanced through towering palm trees at the snow capped Little San Bernardino Mountains in the distance and announced to her husband, Nelson, “Pinch me, I can not believe we live where people come to vacation, we a so-o-o lucky!”. This announcement was prompted by the weather update describing the latest blizzard and ice conditions in the New England states and most of the mid-west. At 10 AM on this particular day in January the temperature was 72 degrees at the Horn’s Palm Desert, CA home.
The Family
Judy and Nelson attended the same high school and were college school sweethearts that lived in a small Massachusetts city. They married after college and had two childrenn daughter,Meredith (deceased), who was a local realtor and business partner, and a son, a practicing attorney, who resides with his wife and children in California.
Where Do You Come From
The Horn’s have had the pleasure of living and traveling throughout most of the United States as well as many trips to foreign countries. They were living in Laguna Niguel in the 80’s when they first visited, discovered, and vowed to eventually move to the desert. .Many corporate relocations latter, the opportunity to return to the desert finally materialized and they anxiously moved to Palm Desert in 2003. Here they live surround by their family and great friends.
Nelson
Nelson’s undergraduate college degree is in Mechanical Engineering. and a graduate MBA degree. For more than 30 years he was in sales to the utility industry in positions of ascending levels of responsibility. He was responsible for more than one billion dollars in sales for his companies. In doing so, he earned the reputation of being honest, customer orientated, and a hard-driving negotiator with attention to minuscule detail. He is an avid connoisseur of wine. While living in Virginia he discovered many fine wines that were locally produced. Exploring the wineries with close friends was a weekly activity. In California when not involved with clients and family he enjoys time on the golf course and visits to nearby wineries.
Judy
Judy’s undergraduate degrees are in Education and Computer Science and her graduate degree is in Educational Administration and Supervision. Early in her career she taught grades 2-12. She became well known as an innovator in the field of education and an educational technology expert, international grant recipient, textbook author, web developer and national conference presenter, She served as an administrator in several school districts and was a member of the Virginia Department of Education’s elite Governor’s Best Practice Center. While at the GBPC she was one of 7 technology specialists that set the bar for technology and education in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She served as a liaison between the robust technology companies in Virginia and the State in efforts that established partnerships to help improve education. The backdrop for the period described was marked by the controversial introduction of state education standards and the No Child Left Behind Act. Promoting and supporting the Virginia school districts during the requisite adoption periods was an ultimate job of salesmanship entrusted to Judy and her team. She was also privileged to serve in an advisory capacity to the VA attorney general. Judy’s contribution to the education community continues tow was her widely known and respected website,

Real Estate Industry Leaders
In spite of their busy real estate practice the Horn's have taken an active role in mentoring and using their skills to promote professionalism in the real estate industry by taking an active role in the California Association of Realtors (CAR) and the California Desert Association of Realtors (CDAR).
Judy is past president of CDAR,(3,000+members), multiple year membership in the CDAR Board of Directors, CDAR committee chair and multiple year director of the CAR association.
Nelson has been an active multiple year member of CDAR's Government Affairs Committee for which the association has been very appreciative.

Nelson and Judy decided to team up as business partners.
